AT&T BlackBerry Bold In the not too distance future
The Bold’s out in pretty much every country recognized by the United Nations at this point, but to attention-starved Americans, we can only say this: it’s new to you. Unlike the Epix, AT&T has spared RIM’s latest and greatest full QWERTY handset from any over-the-top carrier branding, opting for a tiny logo at the bottom [...]
BlackBerry Storm Doesn’t Need Wi-Fi or Tri-Band HSDPA
Though the omission of two all-but-standard smartphone features from BlackBerry’s Storm is disappointing, it isn’t totally inexplicable. BGR has confirmed through a “really top-level” Verizon source that the crippling was — surprise! — carried out at the behest of the wireless company. Few wireless providers are innocent of phone neutering, but this blatant promotion of [...]
BlackBerry Curve 8900 Specification and Review
RIM excels at many things, but keeping secrets ain’t one of ‘em, so we’d eyeballed the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (nee Javelin) quite a bit before this AT&T-branded one dropped in our laps. It’s a Bolder version of the current Curve that improves it in basically every way: Lighter, tighter, but more powerful—and it feels like [...]
Sharp Aquos Fulltouch slider introduces Softbank with quasi-XGA
Just when we thought the Touch HD really packed the pixels in, Softbank and Sharp have announced the Aquos Fulltouch 931SH slider, which sports a wild 1024 x 480 3.8-inch touchscreen. That’s almost the same res as most netbooks, for comparison — we’re not sure what all that pixel density is good for at this [...]
OpenMoko’s Neo FreeRunner’s Specification - Android-based handset
OpenMoko, the company most famous for its altogether open Neo FreeRunner, is reportedly quite close to kicking out an Android-based handset. Before you get all shocked and appalled, let’s look at this rationally. If you’ll recall, we actually got wind of such an occurrence way back in April of this year, and some of those [...]
Samsung Epix SGH-i907 Review
Samsung have announced their latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro smartphone, the Epix SGH-i907, on AT&T. A 3G HSPA candybar with both a 2.5-inch touchscreen and an optical mouse for control, the Epix also has a full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi b/g and built-in aGPS. Around the back there’s a 2-megapixel camera supporting video capture as well [...]
T-Mobile G1 coming to Walmart
Best Buy has its fancy little iPhone 3G, but it’ll be Wally World offering up the G1 outside of official T-Mobile outlets. As we’d heard yesterday, 550 Walmart stores across the country will begin selling the Android-powered handset beginning tomorrow, and folks who opt to pick one up here versus a traditional T-Mob store will [...]
